Is it all your gut?

Uncategorized Aug 15, 2019

I saw a Facebook post from someone the other day that said that they were a gut specialist.

They weren't a doc, so it wasn't an MD or a DO or an ND, now, my first thought was you can't possibly be a gut specialist because already by name it assumes you've just taken the gut out of the body, which is impossible.  The label says, the gut is the one thing you're looking at and that means by default you have no idea the relationship of the gut to the rest of the system. I say this because you can't ever just heal one thing.

I've never met a person who just had a gut problem, not even one time, never met a person who just had a hormonal problem, or just a cardiovascular problem.

The reality is, your body is one beautiful divine connected structure. The minute that we isolate is the minute that we actually set a ceiling on what our healing can be.

The most unfortunate thing is everybody wants to be an expert in something and few people are willing to study the entire body, the whole system.

So, they isolate in on one system and they ascribe that they have figured out that one system in its totality... except for the fact that because it's all connected, the minute that we isolate on one system, we invariably are going to throw things off.  Reality is, if you focus only on the gut and you don't pay attention to stress response which is why the gut was dysfunctional in the first place, you miss the chance to heal the body AND the gut.

Under a stress state, we have no reason to digest things, so our body turns off stomach acid and limits pancreatic function, alters bile production...AND stops liver detox which stops Thyroid hormone conversion, which also limits energy production and blood sugar management and inflammation.
See, it was NEVER just the gut.

All the while, a low energy state is building in the body, as the cells succumb to the metabolic effects of stress, that happens in the gut cells as well, so now they're not functioning, and in a low energy state, they can't do their job. All of a sudden, you've got tissue integrity problems, it gets big quick.

Now, when people are gut specialists, they tend to begin by taking out irritating foods, using probiotics, killing off "bad" things, except that that still isn't going to turn off the stress response. You still haven't treated the root.

Working this way, it is possible to get temporary relief, but if background problem is still persisting, which it is, it may not appear in the gut for a while, but it will reappear.

This is how people get really sick, because vitality is diminishing while we think we are healing.

I've seen this so many times, people who adopted really restrictive, diets, who begin to notice signs of vitality diminishing: being cold all the time, skin looks pale, urinating often, sleep disruptions, anger, anxiety, and fatigue, and they think, oh, it can't be that I healed that.

But in reality, you didn't. I encourage you to take away this whole model of a "one problem, one solution" operating method.

All of the I just need to heal my thyroid, I just need to heal my adrenals, I just need to heal this... and realize and honor the fact that you are a beautiful divine structure entirely, intimately connected, and if there's a problem in one, there's a problem in all.

The women I work with learn to heal the totality. They learn to address the root, to connect with it, to start to inhabit their bodies. Because in truth, if we aren't addressing the totality and inhabiting our bodies, we can never be here feel fully. This is the magic. This is what our divine structures meant for, this is what all the ancient teachings tell us, and this is what has to happen if we really want to heal.

So, you could be like many and go spend 7000-15,000 just heal your gut and you could end up having to heal 10 things later, each carrying a similar cost, or you could say, enough is enough. I'm not just a gut, I'm not just a thyroid, I'm not just a nervous system, I'm not just my emotions, I'm not just my thoughts, I am a beautiful dynamic ME and I want to live fully.

Blessings,

Dr. Julie
