Maybe you don't need willpower

Uncategorized Jan 31, 2019

People always tell me with big regret

“I'm a total sugar addict”, I hear it multiple times a week.

It is always said from a place of “I failed, my willpower failed”.

Often combined to that is not only am I a sugar addict, but I'm actually an emotional eater, I eat when I'm stressed.

Let me give you some truth... of course, you eat when you're stressed.

Now, I get we've been taught that our control mechanism for food is totally flawed we've really been influenced by the Diet Industries, by the biggest loser contests, by every fitness and shape magazine, especially the new year issues.

My gosh, in January every article title is something about, beat the sugar, fight the bulge.

And so we've literally been programmed, first of all, to assume that everything our body asks of us is wrong, and secondly, that we aren't able to know what our body needs, and the only solution is to white knuckle our cravings with tea, water, exercise, distractions or anything but food.

Now, what is most sad about this, is our cells call out for replenishing under stress, but since we have been told our impulses are all wrong, we berate ourselves about these messages, struggling through until we can't any more … binge, regret, and start over.

Not really a way to live.

Truth is, stress is taxing, it alters cell function, uses up nutrients, destroys body balance, and can become a permanent way of operating if not interrupted.

Cravings are the way our body attempts to keep balance.

Now, does that mean eating a large pizza and a coke is the best remedy for stress….no.

But, there are times when increasing carbs and even sugar can settle a revved system AND allow for healing...if done in regards to our body's needs, and in context if dense, mineral-rich foods.

I remember reading a blog post from a food addiction therapist, where every word was about learning to control our cravings, learning to tell our body no, learning to be in charge of it all.  Her plan was regimented to the ounce, even restricting vegetables beyond allowed amounts lest it trigger an uncontrollable urge to be fed.

I am not sure about you, but I have spent enough of my life controlling things,  my body, my cells, my food just aren't things I want to have to control any longer.

People say to me all the time, I know I should be stronger, I hate feeling so weak, or if I could just…….

Is that living?

Monitoring our food with regret and guilt?

Holding ourselves to some rigid methodology that honestly if it actually worked would have long since solved all of our problems already?

Almost every woman I speak to feels guilty too often…

Guilt about taking time for self-care

Guilt about not having a beautiful home

Guilt about wanting a day off

Guilt about that latte they had yesterday

Guilt about not wanting to go to the High-Intensity workout class

Guilt about not feeling sexy

Guilt about having been cranky with their kids

The list goes on and on.

It is time to end our preoccupation with guilt….it is robbing us of life and worse, it just may be killing us.

Have sugar cravings?  Great, guess what, likely your stress levels are out if control and you actually need more carbohydrate.

Feel hungry often?  Fantastic, you likely need more food.

Do you “do good” and then binge on fries, ice cream, and cookies?  Well, guess what, that again is stress and your cells trying to get ahead of it.

What if you could learn to feed your cells in a way that stopped cravings and had you feeling fed, joyful, treated, nourished, sexy, alive, clear, strong, energized, and free?

That's what happens when we turn off the stress and use food properly as our main medicine.

Not only that, but then as your cells make energy, your hormones balance, your brain clears, your sleep restores, as do your moods, visions, sense of personal wow and everything else involved...libido, metabolism, skin, strength….

What would that kind of freedom do to your life?

If you are ready for that...let's talk and see if we can help you get there.   Set up a Clarity Session
