What Is The True Nature Of Healing?

Uncategorized Dec 11, 2017

I remember when I first encountered true healing, or at least the introduction to what real healing is, it was in a Classical Chinese Medicine class nearly 20 years ago.  The lecturer was Dr. Heiner Fruehauf and he was talking about the dynamic nature of healing and it was in that lecture that my soul called out “this is what we are here for”.  Up until then, although I had had fantastic lectures on the potential magic available in the body through various methods in Naturopathic medicine, nothing had ever touched on a philosophy of healing that evoked the combined abilities of Heaven-Earth and Human Beings together.

When he spoke, he made it clear that our body is not just a body, it is a full system within a larger system, and is dynamically engaging with and connected to the entire universe always.  Therefore, authentic and true healing is accomplished by identifying where that connection needs work and invoking methods which work with respect for the system as a whole and operate in full awareness of that connection at all times.

Over my journey, I have encountered only a few methodologies that evoke that combination of Heaven-Earth and Human beings, and those are the ones I have stuck with. Which is why I only offer a few key processes in my office: Acupuncture, Hair Mineral Assessment, and the following restoration, DNA Activation and Classical Chinese Medicine.
Consequently, any plan I make must offer the chance to evoke the deepest potential and most expansive nature of what is possible in that relationship for each of us.  With each piece honing-in and clarifying what our body and spirit need to be restored.

What I know is: all healing processes must harness the dynamic interaction between these elemental forces of Heaven-Earth and Human beings.  Yet few people understand this.  In a world inundated with “health experts”, “celebrity bloggers”, and an unending supply of “health and fitness coaches” sadly, most of what is being offered to heal is nothing more than bits and pieces assembled in a fancy package.  Which has led many of us to adopt a mindset of picking and choosing, bits of this program, pieces of that one, adding as we go. This methodology may be great for building a salad, but it fails when applied to dynamic systems of healing. When it comes to healing, sometimes a bit of rigidity is key.

In fact, the teachers who taught me, including Dr. Fruehauf were always quite rigid about what we needed to do to heal, often even coming to the point of saying: do it this way, always.  At that time, as a novice, I found their rigidity offensive and even oppressive, I thought it was them wanting to control the process.  But now, I understand that they did this because they had already understood what healing is and what it is not.

So, if I wanted what they were offering, I had to follow their advice 100% or as close to it as I could because what they were offering me the chance to experience, was their gift: the understanding of the true nature of healing.  And now, it is my gift, which I must share too.

So, when people want to question, when they want to manipulate or change the plan before it has even begun, I have come to understand it is in fact just another way to limit what is possible.  There are times in life where we must do it exactly as it is given, exactly as prescribed if we want the result.

If we don’t want to do it that way, we must be truthful with ourselves: “I am not ready to heal, I am not ready to experience that, I am choosing to not experience that. or I want to do it differently.”  I say this because I know from personal experience that most of us don’t really know what true healing is because no one has ever offered us the chance to experience it.  We really only know what we have read or heard or learned, but true healing is something far beyond all that.

True healing emerges out of a choice to abandon what we have previously known and done and thought, it is a place where we make a commitment so deep that nothing can shake our foundation, a place where we will, in fact, do whatever it takes, even when challenged, even when uncomfortable.

So, perhaps it is a big change in diet, we will do it, if we have long been a vegetarian, but to heal we need the medicine in meat, we will eat it, if we need to give up sugar, or alcohol, if we need to heal our anger, or rage, or swallow supplements, or move our bodies, or meditate, or laugh, or rest, we do it, all of it.

Those teachers imparted that rigidity and still do, and now I understand and appreciate why.  Because they knew we cannot remake the rules every time we want to do something.  That sometimes the ancestors have spoken, and the information of dynamic relationship has been left for us in such a way, and we just sometimes have to do it the way it has been prescribed and do it until we heal so that we can come to understand what the dynamic relationship of healing really is.

So, if you find yourself questioning and saying: “well, I want to kind of change it this way or that way, I want to maybe do this, or maybe do that.” If you find yourself setting up a multitude of things you must do before you get serious: “I have to set my mindset or I feel like I need to understand it completely before I could get started.”

It is time to ask: Am I choosing to limit myself? Am I choosing to not allow myself full access to the full nature of healing? Am I in fact not ready? Be honest, it is okay to choose that, but it must be owned, because true healing emerges out of our willingness to own in honesty what we want and commit to what-ever that is.

My teachers were wise and it is only because of that wisdom that I am able to do what I do today.  I never thought I would say blessings in gratitude for rigidity, but here I stand, feeling grateful for the wisdom of commitment and consistency and for the ongoing deep understanding of the dynamic relationship between Heaven-Earth and Human beings and how we sustain and grow in connection to that relationship.

Blessings
